Today’s discussion of the Best for NYC Challenge concerns discarding specific parts of the past. I started the predecessor firm to Old Structures in 1992 and we have pretty much continuously had, somewhere in the office, a museum of obsolete technology. Old computers, old external drives, old mice, old printers, old back-up drives (anyone remember Zip drives?), old parallel and serial cables, and a few hundred adapters (my favorite: 9-pin serial to 25-pin serial). Many of these items can’t be safely thrown out in the trash because of the metals and other materials inside them.
For the last several years, we’ve used 4th Bin to dispose of electronics and related items. They make it easy for us, their service is inexpensive, and they dispose of the obsolete tech safely. What more could we ask for?
