Lucy Moses Award: The Piros Residence

The Piros Residence is the first of three projects that we worked on and which won 2016 Lucy Moses Awards from the New York Landmarks Conservancy. I’ll describe the other two later this week.

As always with awards, we must remember that the award goes to the project, and that Old Structures was on a team working on the building. We’re proud of our work, but it’s always one part of a bigger picture.

The Piros Residence is an 1870s rowhouse in Brooklyn. We designed the structure for a replacement stoop with wood treads on a concrete foundation. The original wood stoop had no foundation to speak of and was not in good condition.

Our thanks go to Caroline Schweyer, the project architect, who brought us onto the project; our congratulations go to the entire team.
