I seem to keep returning to the topic of Brutalism. It’s far from my favorite style, but it has its good points and perhaps I cheer for it because it is, as it is widely reviled, an underdog. Chatham Towers, pictured above, is a personal favorite.
I can relax a bit and let SOS Brutalism make the case for me. Hundreds of pages and more than a hundred buildings, most of which are standing. It’s unlikely that all of the buildings will be demolished, but it is entirely possible that a lot of the best examples – like the Orange County Offices – will be demoed or defaced to an extent that the style is seen as an oddity rather than a legitimate movement of its era.
