For New Year’s, I present a clock.
The last time I showed one of these – a single mechanism driving multiple clock faces – it was a boring modern all-electric mechanism. This is not. The motor is driving a wonderland of gears up to the four shafts that actually run out through the tower walls and turn the hands.
I’m a structural engineer and spend my working life trying to keep things from moving, but this is just beautiful. I particularly like the curved cast-iron frame.
