Camouflage

The view from a rooftop in southern Brooklyn, taken on a cold day.

What looks like a single line of tall buildings, running across the middle of the picture is actually three separate clusters of tall buildings: lower Manhattan on the left, dominated by 1WTC, downtown Brooklyn for the right third of the line, and midtown Manhattan in the middle. Those things in midtown that look like chimneys? That’s Billionaire’s Row and some other recent very tall and very slender buildings.

The land near us, on the other side of some open water, is Red Hook – you can make out the big IKEA down and to the right of the Empire State Building, which is left of the middle of the”chimney” group. The land on the far left is New Jersey, across the harbor.
