Before and After

Yet another post about the Cathedral of St. Sava. (The map above shows the building in its previous incarnation as a chapel of Trinity Church.) The two pictures below are looking north in the summer of 2018 and looking south a few weeks ago.

You can’t see it in the lower picture, but the new sanctuary floor is now in place.

Some projects have dedicated photographers, who take photos from the same locations as the work proceeds, creating a time-lapse of the progress. I wish all did, as it is so easy to forget what things looked like at the beginning by the time you get to the end.

The work at St. Sava is continuing: roofing, temporary enclosure of the window openings, and finishing the roof and floor in the apse. But the most difficult part for us and for the contractors was getting the nave roof and floor in place to stabilize the historic walls. So this feels more like “after” than “before.”
