When I’ve posted fog pictures before, they’ve generally been looking west across the Hudson River or south across the Upper Bay. Fog is frequent over the Lower Bay (south of the Verrazano Narrows), less frequent but still fairly common over the Upper Bay, and less common still further north. Fog over the water tends to be very low; fog over land tends to be higher.

The picture above shows fog over lower Manhattan low enough to blur the view of the top of 17 Battery Place, less than 200 feet up. That’s rare. And looks cool.
