Karrie Jacobs recently interviewed me about The Structure of Skyscrapers and her piece, “The Forgotten History of our First Skyscrapers,” is up at the magazine’s website. It’s a Q&A with Karrie’s commentary. I’m not certain, but I believe she edited my responses a bit to make me sound more coherent than usual.
The picture above is something of a cheat, since the visible downtown NY skyscrapers were built after my nineteenth-century study period, but that’s a beautiful picture so I’m using it. In there interest of evenhandedness, here are some Chicago skyscrapers that are in the book:
