Talking Skyscrapers

Two weeks ago, I described The Structure of Skyscrapers in America as being a longer and better-written version of some of the arguments I make in this blog. In the interest of multi-media presentation, I’d like to point out that I will be discussing these same topics – the intersection of construction history, the history of technology, and the development of modern steel framing – in a roundtable discussion presented by the Skyscraper Museum next month. The details are here: CONSTRUCTION HISTORY ROUNDTABLE: Work in Progress.

It’s fun for me, and hopefully for the audience, to bounce ideas off people familiar with the issues but who don’t necessarily agree with me. This is the sixth presentation in a series that started in March, and videos of the previous five are available here: Work in Progress: Construction History in New York and Chicago, 1870-1930.
